Gurpreet S. Malhotra: Chief Executive Officer
Gurpreet S. Malhotra has been a professional in Human Services for over 28 years and is currently the Chief Executive Officer at Indus Community Services, which is a leading provider of culturally appropriate community, and health services. The agency has six locations and a dedicated staff complement of over a hundred.
Preceding that he was the principal of his own consultancy and worked at the Region of Peel as the Director of Strategic Planning, Policy and Partnerships in the Human Services Department. Prior to that, he served as the Chief of Staff and Senior Advisor to two Cabinet Ministers at the Ontario Ministry of Community and Social Services, where he was actively involved with the creation of the Ontario Child Benefit.
Gurpreet has more than a decade of experience as a Professor and Program Coordinator of the innovative Community Development Diploma Program at the Sheridan Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning where he also served as a Human Rights Advisor. He also holds two degrees in Public Policy and Administration.
Kelly Baker: Director, Health Services
An executive with expertise in strategy, health care, community care, retail, internet, and media, with significant expertise in social and health care policy, brand development, market research, analytics, customer loyalty initiatives, and more. An executive with a powerful and unique combination of skills including consulting, marketing, analytics, strategic planning, sales and management. A strong coach who is results-driven, client-focused leader who is truly a team player. Kelly has a unique and rare blend of technical expertise, and business savvy.
Kelly has a B.Sc. degree from University of Toronto, specializing in Psychology & Economics. She also has a Masters degree in Social Welfare Policy & Economics, from McMaster University. After caring for two palliative parents at the same time, Kelly found her passion for healthcare. She was Owner & Managing Director of two home healthcare franchises (Nurse Next Door) before joining the public sector managing funding & accountability for various community healthcare and hospice agencies. Kelly is thrilled to have her passion for healthcare come full circle as she leads the Health Services division at Indus Community Services, helping to give a voice and respite to those who need it.
Sita Jayaraman: Director, Community Services
Sita Jayaraman, Director – Community Services provides strategic leadership for growth and innovation in programming and sustainable funding at Indus Community Services. She has overall responsibility for language and employment programs for newcomers and initiatives for addressing violence against women and community mental health.
With over 25 years of experience in community development and organizational change management, Sita has worked in diverse sectors including women’s employment, youth mentorship and newcomer settlement. She holds a Master’s Degree in Immigration and Settlement Studies, Ryerson University and is a skilled trainer in organizational diversity and equity. She has co-authored the journal publication “Immigrant workers in the immigrant service sector: segmentation and career mobility in Canada and Germany” and co-produced the audio-visual training: Diversity Works! Creating Inclusive and Equitable Workplaces. She is passionate about physical fitness, healthy eating and centering mental wellbeing in her everyday life. She lives by the principle “this too shall pass”.
Vinitha Miranda – Human Resources & Strategic Development
Vinitha Miranda joined Indus Community Services in 2008 and has over 12 years of experience within human resources – for the most part as a Human Resources department of one. She started at Indus as the Human Resources Officer, progressed to Manager – Human Resources and currently the position of Director – Human Resources & Strategic Development. As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, Vinitha is responsible for supporting Indus’s long-term strategic objectives and is responsible for providing comprehensive human resources support across the organization.
Prior to joining Indus, Vinitha spent over 8 years in the hospitality and community healthcare sectors. She has a Bachelor of Commerce from University of Guelph, Human Resources Management Certificate from Sheridan College, and has held the Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation since 2014.
Winston Morris – Director, Finance & Corporate Services
An experienced, professional accountant possessing extensive experience in the Not-for-Profit sector, social housing, and community and health services industries. Strengths includes financial reporting, budgeting and year-end audit lead in a not-for-profit environment. He has been financial lead in national organizations in community services and philanthropy and also had responsibility for merging together two multi-million dollar community health service agencies.
Winston has managed payroll, employee benefit programs, property management and maintenance programs, and numerous finance and IT upgrade projects.
