6 Copy Who wants to do homework?
We were unsure how many students would say “WE DO” when we launched our first pilot session of the Indus Youth Learning Club in January at our Mississauga site. However, we were thrilled with the response from our young learners – 20 young students signed up within the very first week! Each week, they come to the program right after school with their homework, a desire to improve their English language, develop literacy and math skills and a big appetite for healthy snacks! They have been learning about Canadian culture, values and everyday life through the curriculum designed not only to improve their love for the language but also to help them integrate into the society. The facilitators use a variety of teaching aids to encourage and guide them during the homework session.

The after school program is open to all newcomer children between the ages of 9 to 11 and runs on Tuesday and Thursday from 4:00 to 5:00 PM. The success of this program is best summed up in the words of one of the students, who said It is my dream to speak English.   We at Indus want to see this club continue, we need your help to make this happen.
