Indus Community Services is committed to ensuring that its Board continues to attract the talent necessary to provide strategic direction to the organization, ensure necessary resources are in place to support our mission, guiding principles and values. As a member of our Policy-Governance Board, a Director acts in a position of trust for the community and is responsible for the effective leadership of the organization.
The organization is committed to establishing diverse leadership and seeks Directors that reflect the pluralism of the communities we serve. We welcome diversity and encourage nominations of individuals who have experience in any of the following areas:
- Finance and Accounting
- Human Resources
- Human Services
- Public Relations
The following skills acquired during professional experience and formal development, are highly relevant and necessary to be an effective Board Director:
- Critical Thinking

- Problem Solving
- Strategic Leadership
Board appointments are for three years beginning in June and Directors are eligible to serve for a maximum of two terms i.e. six years. The Board meets 8 – 10 times per year for approximately 3 hours in the evening. There is also committee work required as well as attendance at the Annual General Meeting held in June of each year, where the election of the Board takes place.
All candidates must be members of Indus Community Services for a minimum of three months in order to be eligible for nomination to the board.
