YES! Halton Program – Volunteers Needed

Diverse Group of Students

Are you passionate about social justice and equity? Are you looking to develop your leadership skills? Do you enjoy working with youth? We have just the opportunity for you!

The YOUTH FOR EQUITY, EMPOWERMENT & SOLIDARITY (YES! HALTON) program is an opportunity for students in grade 9 to 11 in Halton schools to get involved and make a difference in their community. The aim of the program is to enhance youth participants’ confidence and foster critical self-reflection on all aspects of their unique identity while building their leadership skills to create a climate of inclusion and respect for all members of their student community and beyond.

We are looking for volunteer facilitators with a deep understanding of equity and anti-racism, and who have a keen interest in working with youth. Volunteers will be responsible for implementing and co-facilitating a 14-week program alongside Indus staff. A comprehensive training on equity and facilitation skills will be provided. The program will take place in Halton schools during school hours (between 10:30 am – 1:30 pm), and group sessions will run for two hours a week for 14 weeks from February-May 2018.
